12.2.13. Dimensions

You can add text and dimensions to your drawings using the SimCam main menu.
To add a Linear dimension, click [Linear] from the [Dimension] menu. Then click the two endpoints of your dimension.
Note that when you move the mouse around, before your final click, you will see a rubber- band type preview of the dimension. Move the mouse until you see it in the correct direction and location.
Angular dimensions are drawn similarly, except you need to click on two lines.
For arcs, select [Radial] and click on the arc. Then click on the position for the arrow.
When it comes to circles, you have an option to switch to diametric by hitting the space-bar on the keyboard.
A dimension is actually a group of individual texts and lines.
If you want to edit the location of a text or a line, you can break apart the group to its individual components.
Note! There is no way back once you have broken apart a dimension. It will no longer be a dimension object.
After the dimension has been broken apart you can move and edit its parts as you like.
All dimension objects (not broken apart) have dimension properties. You open these by either double-clicking the dimension or by selecting [Modify] - [Properties] - [Open] from its context menu.
This will show the Dimension Properties dialog.
Here you can customize everything from arrow styles to color and line styles.
The "Document Wide Dimensioning Scale Factor" lets you change the overall scale factor for all dimensions in your drawing.
Using the same menu, you can also copy and paste dimension properties so that you do not have to open the properties for each dimension when you want to change several of them.
Please note that you can set the default settings from the Settings menu in CNCSimulator Pro.
