12.1.5. Edit Lines

You can edit guide lines in two ways: move and rotate. Click on the line to show the editing menu.

Move and rotate both uses the lines origin point. It is the point you used as the start point when creating the line.

To move, select [Move] from the menu and click a new position. (In later versions, [Modify]- [Move].)

If you hold down the SHIFT key during the new position click, you will create a copy of the line at the new location (keeping the original line).

To rotate, select [Rotate] in the menu and click a new angle. (In later versions, [Modify] - [Rotate].)

Hold down CTRL for an angle step of 5 degrees and SHIFT if you want to create a copy at the new angle (keeping the original line). Center of rotation will be the origin of the line.

Another way to move a guide line is to click on it with the left mouse button and drag it to a new position. You can also hold down the SHIFT key on the keyboard while dragging to create a new copy.

Drawing lines can be manipulated (edited) in more ways.

Also please note that when you click on a drawing object (line, arc or circle) it will become active and show handle bars.

If you click and drag these bars, you can move only the start or the endpoint of the line.

You can also make a single click on these handles to show a pop-up menu with common functions.

This menu will change depending on what is possible to do at that point. For example, if the point is at a corner, you will see options to round or chamfer that corner.

The pop-up menu can be used for fillets, chamfers, trims, extension, rotation, radius and properties.
